In pursuit of ‘balance’ ….

Physically it’s something we just take for granted; we don’t remember when we weren’t masters of it, then we learn to ride a bike and for a few weekends with dad holding the seat the concept of balance comes alive as we pedal wildly our heart’s thumping, adrenaline coursing through us we rediscover balance, the prize a mark of maturity and gateway to freedom not bettered for many years, the removal of stabilisers.

As a concept applied to life rather than walking or cycling people are so often said to be striving for ‘balance’ in their work and life. I’m in one of those phases where there are just so many forces competing for that rare commodity time. The pursuit of balance has been weighing heavily on my shoulders.

I have a new business with awesome clients for whom I want to deliver so much, I still need more customers and am adapting to the routines of running your own company.

After several months of light dutiies I have my next ultra-marathon on the horizon and am deterimed to face it light, strong and fast.

My daughters group of friends and interests is growing therefore so is the demand on Dad’s taxi.

The British Trail Running Podacst has been more successful than any of the founding three had any right to expect; of the founding three I am last man standing and therefore presenter, editor, researcher and promoter and more.

Through the ultra-marathons I have run and the TBTRP audience I have grown my base of friends over the last few years to the point I can’t now keep up with the opportunities this brings to hang out with aweosme people and do awesome things.

……………………… when I opened my eyes this morning and tried to plan today this seemed an impossible list to draw any type of balance from, activities competing like chicks in the nest for food started to feel like something of a burden, having written it down, who cares, how lucky am I?

I’m just going to pedal like hell, heart thumping, wobbling down the road in pursuit of happiness; the only change being it’s not mum or dad holding the seat keeping me upright it’s MRS S!
